The gold 10 Roubles of Nicholas II is one of the most iconic coins of the Russian Empire, minted between 1897 and 1911 at the Saint Petersburg Mint. The coin was born out of the famous monetary reform of 1897, led by Finance Minister Sergei Witte, which placed the Russian rouble on the gold standard and turned it into one of the most stable currencies in Europe. The obverse features the left-facing portrait of Emperor Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Russia, while the reverse displays the double-headed eagle — the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — along with the face value and year of issue. Struck in 900 fine “crown gold”, the coin is durable and resistant to wear, and each piece contains 7.74 grams of pure gold. After the fall of the Empire in 1917, minting ceased forever, which makes the Nicholas II 10 Roubles both a tangible piece of history and a highly liquid investment coin, widely traded and recognized across the world
