1 t/oz Gold Coin | Krugerrand – Various Years

Price:

The South African Krugerrand is the world’s first modern gold bullion coin, originally released in 1967 by the Rand Refinery and the South African Mint. Unlike many modern 24-carat coins, the Krugerrand is minted from 22-carat gold ($91.67\%$ purity) alloyed with copper. This historical “crown gold” composition gives the coin a distinct reddish-orange tint and makes it significantly more durable and resistant to scratches than pure gold coins. Despite the alloy, each coin contains exactly 1 troy ounce of pure gold, meaning its intrinsic value is identical to that of its 24-carat counterparts. Featuring the iconic springbok antelope on the reverse and Paul Kruger on the obverse, the Krugerrand remains the most widely owned and recognized gold bullion coin in the world, valued for its heritage and extreme liquidity.
